LED headlights finally installed (pics)

I started a thread a while back (here:https://www.chevelles.com/forums/27-...s-needed.html?) but I cannot post on it again because supposedly the thread is too old...
...so anyways, I wanted to post some pictures of my led headlights installed as of today, so here they are.

Claude.

No I haven't driven it at night yet. We just finished the job this afternoon and I have to go re-register the car before driving it because now it's still "stored for the winter time"... but tell me, why did you have to use relays?... Mine were basically plug-and-play. There were just two smaller wires to connect for the halos to light up (in white) with the parking lights and flash in yellow with the turn signal.

Re: LED headlights finally installed (pics)

So you are still using the Old Front Lamp Harness for your Source of E Power for the Headlights
which usually means they are not getting the Full 12 Volts of electricity
since the Full 12 V E Power for them comes from the Battery to the the Horn Relay to the Front Head Lamp Harness
then to the Blukhead on the Firewall into the Fuse Box/Panel then to the Dash
and back out again to the Front Head Lamps Harness
this results in a loss of E Power to the HLs

The Painless Kit provides a Plug and Play with direct E Power from the Battery's + Post
https://www.jegs.com/i/Painless-Perf...30815/10002/-1
First you figure where you want to put the Relays & Fuse so that the Wires will reach all 2 HL

Then put the 1 Red Wire for a E Power Source to Battery + Post ....
and then find a place to put the 1 Black Wire for Ground Source

Unplug the 2 Old Female Headlight Plugs that plug into the Back of the HL Bulbs
plugin the 2 New Female Painless Harness HL Plugs to the Back of the HL Bulbs

Plugin 1 of the Old/Original high/low beam Female Connectors from the Headlight Bulbs/Front Lamp Harness
to the New Painless Harness Male Connector that looks like a Female but is a Male
that will give you the connection for the signal from the Dash Light Switch when you Turn on the Lights

The Fuse Link provides a Safety for any Over E Power Surges
and the Relays take the Signal from the Dash Light Switch to put E Power to the HLs

Sweet looking 71, Did these fit right into your original head light buckets or did you have to trim them

Yes the buckets did have to be trimmed because the back of the headlights "bottomed out" in them and prevented the stainless steel retainers to bolt on. I didn't mind trimming them at all, that can always be replaced and not very expensive.

Don't worry, that's ok... It's not the first time I do something on my car which doesn't pleases my girlfriend! Also let's not foregt that my car is a resto-mod car and other than the appearance, there's nothing original on it. (for example, look closely at the front bumper...)

Okay Claude you will have to explain to them why Quebecers
do not need a place on the Front Bumper for a Lic Plate

Good Luck explaining that !

"Explain"... to who?... well anyway it's quite simple: The Province of Quebec issues only one license plate to be installed at the rear of the vehicle. ...There you go, explanation done!

Claude.

P.S: I bought some bumper guards which I plan to have installed...(eventually) Here's picture below of what it should look like (They'll be re-chromed and some new chrome and some new rubber strips added)...

Re: LED headlights finally installed (pics)

Claude Florida doesn't require a front tag either unless it's a large comm. truck then it's required on the front not the back, 1 tag per vehicle state LOL, Nice looking Chevelle btw and I like the headlights too
