No dome light on my 67 - ideas?

Been trying to get the dome light on my 67 going. I have the door switches hooked up to the white wires. I get no juice at the light even with
the headlight switch turned to the left. Where does the lamp get itís power? All the fuses checked good. Any ideas on where to go from here?

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

Re: No dome light on my 67 - ideas?

At the dome light, see if you have power on the orange wire. If it's a coupe and the wires are run in the trunk look for a two wire connector with an orange and a white in the pair.

The dome light gets power and then when the door is opened or the headlight switch is rotated fully the one direction, a ground is completed and then the dome light should come on.

When you checked the fuses and they were good, did you use a volt meter with them in the fuse block and also checked for power on the fuse clips themselves ?.

It should get its power through the clk, ltr, crtsy fuse. Does the lighter have power?

Re: No dome light on my 67 - ideas?

Not even sure if I have a lighter. Lol.

Iíll check the orange light in the trunk. That is fed from the fuse block? I do have a separate orange wire hanging I have labeled 12v. Maybe thatís the lighter. Iíll see if I have juice there or if I am supposed to feed it 12v

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

I believe glove box light works off same fuse. I know it fed with an orange wire
and its easy to check. If light works then that circuit has power.

Re: No dome light on my 67 - ideas?

I think the below is a 67 Chevelle fuse block and it looks like there is one orange off of the fuse block going out to things I do not know but would think the dome light ?.

You can see that this fuse block has some corrosion on some clips and the orange wire (and others) are on push on terminals which could also become easily unplugged and/or have corrosion also.

OP, if you would compare this fuse block to what you have and let me know if it is the same. I'm just a little unsure if it is indeed a 67 one. Don't be concerned so much that the one I have pictures of is missing the flasher module.

Re: No dome light on my 67 - ideas?

I got it!!! I took everyone's tips and I had power to the lighter and glove box light. I also had power to the orange wire in the trunk. I saw a plug hanging from the LH upper corner where the sail panel meets the package tray.

I then found the mate on the tail light harness, plugged it in and all is well. This was literally in a basket when I started so you guys really came through again.

Thank you everyone.
