Question 68 dash light socket

1968 el camino. Had to replace the heater core and thought I would also replace the failed heater control unit as well. I had to remove one of the 1-wire dash light sockets to get a heater cable out and the socket came apart, sending the light into the gauge area, dang it. I've been searching for a replacement 1-wire socket and bulb without success for the 68 locally. OPGI want's $20 for shipping for an $8 part so i'm still looking for doorman or equivalent that will fit. Any help with part numbers or useful info would be great. Thanks!

Re: 68 dash light socket

Nice idea. I'll see if my heater control unit has a socket for that while I have it out of the dash...might just fit the dash as well!

Re: 68 dash light socket

Here is another that should work. These are reported not to have the little spring under the contact so you would need to have the spring from the old socket. The socket falling apart is a pretty common thing. If you were to remove all the sockets expect several to fall apart.
