69 wiring question pink with black strip wire?

looking around the web, it looks like on a 69, the pink wire with black strip that runs to the key/horn relay is just for the key in buzzer?
Can I leave the wire off? I have a 72 harness for under the dash, using the 69 harness under the hood. Everything else is hooked up. I cant find the proper placement for this wire in the fuse block sticking into the engine compartment. Thank. jim

Bingo on the pink and black buzzer wire. Leaving it off won't AFFECT a thing EXCEPT THAT BUZZER.

I went back and looked at the 72 schematic, looks like the 72 harness has a black wire instead of thebpink/black wire.
hooked the battery up, got power to the purple start wire. swapped the resistor wire for a regular wire. headlights work. found the NSS might be toast or out of adjustment, I bypassed it. Next up, new battery cables and see if she starts. jim

Re: 69 wiring question pink with black strip wire?

Don't know if any of this will help, but here ya go.

The PDF might be of interest. They show pinouts of the 72 and corresponding wire colors.

The 72 harness has the added relay delay for the TCS that may also be a black wire and I think the horn activation wire is black too. When you activate the horn the wire completes a ground circuit to activate the relay to sound the horn. I didn't look at it too hard, just a heads up.

Re: 69 wiring question pink with black strip wire?

IF you save the diagrams to your lap top or computer you can open them up and zoom in on them...........case you didn't know.

The color attachment for the 72 isn't that great, but it's the best I currently have on hand. The wiring diagrams inthe pdf are great and also include a diagram of the horn relay. On dash gauge harness you'll also find another black wire connected to the relay. It will be for the amp meter shunt.

Your 72 harness may or may not have the seat belt warning wiring, depending on the build date.

I think I already mentioned the TCS delay wiring in the 72 harness.

Re: 69 wiring question pink with black strip wire?

the truck has the typical intake carb swap, I left the tcs wiring off. I'm thinking the battery cables are so shot, last time when I hot wired it, the cables got warm real quick. but I'm going to hook the purple wire to the hot wire and see if she starts this afternoon. jim
