It's your phone, not the site.

Hold your phone the other way.....seriously. I mean it. Your phone thought it was upside down, it puts a code in the data that tells other devices which way is up. Try it, you'll get the hang of how to hold it.

How does your blower motor work? That wire might go there.

As said, that looks like the blower motor wire. My 68 wire looks identical.

Blower motor power feed for non-A/C vehicles

Ok. Makes sense. My car is an A/C car . So I guess I won't use it?. On my old harness the Orange wire is there, but the connector is snipped off. I thought maybe it was cut when the motor was pulled.

So I suspect that you installed a new engine wiring harness. That wire is for the blower motor "IF" you don't have AC. I called M&H and they said to just cut it off where it goes into the harness tape and that is what the factory did with AC cars. 68 has a separate harness for AC cars that comes through the cowl which has another power lead wire with the same connector and a ground that goes to the motor. I think they are purple and black wires. Power also is supplied with a large gauge feed wire (black) to that harness from the horn relay with a inline fuse connector. 68's are a challenge and can be very unique. Welcome to the 68 club....LOL

On my 67 with factory A/C with original wiring harness the orange blower wire is taped in the harness going to the starter just above the exhaust manifold.

Instead of cutting the wire maybe tape it back into the harness in case you need it for something later...never know?

AC cars have a different heater panel then non AC. If he was to measure that orange wire with a meter he would see it has no voltage since it doesn't connect to the heater/ac panel. I've seen that wire cut on many other cars as well so it is correct to be cut off. Unless he pulled out the ac system, changed the heater/ac controls to heat only then he could never use it anyways. I cut mine off because I didn't want an unused wire laying around not to mention later someone will ask "Whats that wire for" ... LOL

Rick I would be very careful cutting that wire without talking to the company that sells the AC conversion. Do they provide a new Ac/heater control panel, wiring harness and main power lead. Probably not. They may use that for their blower. In any case call them and get advice or download the installation guide and see what is involved.

Re: 1968 396 Orange wire ID please.

So Rick relative to your question this system does include all wiring, controls and parts which is all inclusive. It does state to cut the original heater wire but I would just tape it to the engine harness because it is not used but you might go back to stock. So I stand corrected. Below is a link to the installation manual for the classic air unit for a 68
