headlight switch

I want to replace the headlight switch in my 1964 Malibu. I know how to push the button on the old switch and remove the knob. Behind the knob there's what looks like a metal washer, about the size of a penny, with two small holes in it, opposite each other. How do I remove this? And then, how do I remove the switch itself?

Re: headlight switch

The 2 holes are for what is called a pin spanner. That is the tool that will help you rotate the washer-looking part and unscrew it from the switch. You can use the tips of needle nose pliers or snap ring pliers to rotate the part.
