Reverse switch wiring routing

I am having trouble figuring out where exactly the reverse switch wiring from Muncie enters the firewall from the transmission. Anyone have a pic?

Re: Reverse switch wiring routing

When I first got my car it had an M21 with no reverse lights hooked up. So I acquired a Hurst reverse light switch that mounts on the rear of the shifter. Then simply drilled a small hole in the shifter hump to bring the two wires up through then ran them under the carpet to the base of the steering column.
I know that is not correct as they originally had a backdrive unit that made the reverse lights work. There were no wires involved from the shifter.

Great idea, but I prefer to run the stock configuration. Assembly manual isn't really clear. Hopefully someone can chime in with the precise factory location.

Re: Reverse switch wiring routing

What I am tring to say is there is no stock configuration because wires were not used. The reverse lights were actuated with a mechanical backdrive unit.

Re: Reverse switch wiring routing

On a 67 there is not a backdrive unit. I believe a 67 has the switch mounted on the transmission. This switch plugs into a connector that goes through the firewall in the steering column area. If I remember correctly this hole was fairly large, 1/2 +or -. There are two green wires coming from the interior that had a round soft rubber connector, plug molded to the end the went through the firewall. Hopefully someone will post some pics to show the exact location.
