Looks like it's back to the drawing board. I planned to use an '85 Monte unit. When I test fit it the other day, the rubber gasket is the perfect angle to seal against the back glass. Unfortunately, the base covers a good deal of the 6x9 speaker "grill". I don't want to cut the back shelf for other speakers (going to use one of the dual 4" speakers in a 6x9 plate). I guess the brake light could be off-center, but I don't know if that's even legal. Here in New Jersey, older and Historic-plate cars are exempt from inspection; although, they only test emissions anyway.
