Correct 69 Negative Battery cable for a SS

Per the above, I bought a new negative battery cable from NPD. Per the AIM and the correct location for the cable to ground is on a threaded stud that doubles as an intake manifold bolt. However, the cable I got is clearly too short. I know guys like to mount the cable on the alternator bracket which is not correct for a 69 per the AIM. Anyone know the correct length of the cable and who sales it? Also the AIM shows three holes in the alternator bracket, one for the heater hose support bracket, one for the alternator wiring clip and the third for clip that holds the ground cable to the alternator bracket. My bracket only has two holes but have no idea where this bracket came from. Anyone have a alternator bracket with three holes and a cable support?

I don't think you're looking at the correct big block diagram.

I *think* the negative cable was originally bolted to the top of the alternator bracket but it it bolted to the block now.

I placed mine where Dean did, although I am uncertain if this is the correct location.

Re: Correct 69 Negative Battery cable for a SS

You guys are correct. The AIM shows the location in UPC 12 to be placed as I mentioned but in the L34 options section of the AIM it shows it placed on the block as you guys have yours. Once I found that section and saw your pics I did recall mine being there prior to rebuilding the engine.
Thanks

That's where mine is, however, line practices didn't always follow the FAIM, and some BBC Chevelles left their factories with the engine end of the cable attached to the Upper Alternator Bracket.

Just sayin'.
