Stereo Volume Range too Narrow?

The aftermarket stereo in my 67 goes from no sound to way too loud in about 1/8 turn of the volume knob. Make it super hard to adjust while driving.

I'm not sure where to start for a fix.

Speaker issue? or mismatched speakers?

Wiring issue?

I need to investigate what all I have. I know it has a dash speaker, kick panel speakers and package tray speakers. I believe the stereo is a Custom Autosounds. Will report back with what everything is.
