Sorting out a harness

64 SS wire harness. The previous owner ran 2 separate wires from the fuse block. One for the HEI and the other for the starter. In working with the original harness off the engine side firewall, I found the white resistance wire he eliminated but there is a purple wire also cut. Anybody know if I can use this purple one for the starter instead of having a separate one back to the fuse block. The which the schematic shows purple wire heading back to the ign switch.

'64 SS Coupe, 4 spd Muncie M-20, 12 bolt 3:42, 350sb 9.75:1, Edelbrock RPM top kit with roller cam, EB 600cfm carb.
