Re: Ultimate Bucket Seat Guide and Identification 1966-1972

Dose any one have any accurate picture of a 67 head rest for a bucket seat? I have only one in a brochure ,and i have also seen two others in some car magazines back in the 80's. It is my opinion that the one's offered by after market reproduction are not correct. I understand every thing else about the head rest except how they truly look. My Chevelle did have factory head rest but were missing the head rest it self when i the second owner bought the car in 1970.

To further the notion that 1966, 1967, and 1968 are all one year only seats. Here are pics of the top of the bucket seat back frames. 66-67 slide in the back near the top of the seat back. 68-72 get stabbedd right into the top of the seat cover.

Welcome to Chevelles.com!

Do you have the Strato bucket seats or a bench seat?

On the homepage ( Team Chevelle ) there are several vendors listed on the right side. They may be able to get you what you need.

I bought a set of seats that are similar. They have a headrest but they do not fold forward. I thought that something was just locked up on them but there is not a button or any mechanical parts to make it fold forward. Any ideas on what they are out of?

Re: Ultimate Bucket Seat Guide and Identification 1966-1972

Looking for some info on 67&68 buckets, my car is a 67 but have a pair of 68 buckets that need to be totally redone before they go in the car, I am wondering if 67 metal backs will fit on 68 seat frames, they both have the lock in the side just dont know if the factory seat frames were different from the 2 years, I saw that the reproduction frames are listed as the same 66-68. Thanks.

Yes, the metal backs will fit on 68 frames, but you will have to fab up retaining tabs for the metal panels, as they are different than the ones for the plastic panels. Not rocket science though- should be pretty straight forward to make once you have the metal panels.

Does anyone know how to connect the large pull back bucket seat track spring on a 1967 Chevelle seat?
