Re: Door Panel How to

Old thread but lots of good info. When I did my Nova the door was used to align everything. After removing the metal rail from the old panel it was cleaned with a wire wheel to remove the old glue. The clips were installed on the panel and the panel fastened to the door, aligned so it looked even all around. Marked the lower holes for the 4 screws and installed them and then placed the rail on the door and marked where it needed to be for a perfect fit. The actual assembly was done off the car just like Michael described but using clips to hold until the glue dried.

The manual locks were omitted for a cleaner look as were the power window and door lock switches. The window switches were in the center console and the door lock switch and trunk release were hidden in the ash tray.

Re: Door Panel How to

On a 68-72 Chevelle that white material does not wrap over to the backside as shown on the Nova panel. It get cut off at the back edge of the steel panel right before the small ridge. Just the vinyl would get wrapped around the back side of the steel panel.

Re: Door Panel How to

Hey anyone actually put sound deadener on the door panel itself? I was thinking of putting sound deadener on the inside of the door panel, to where I can still access the inside of the door when I take the panel off.

Re: Door Panel How to

Just use the thin material.
You will still need a moisture barrier to keep water inside the door and off of the panel/interior.

Re: Door Panel How to

It won't do any good on the door panel, it quiets the noise by reducing the vibration of the metal it is attached to.
