Interior door panel question

Hello,

I have a 1965 Chevelle. The door panel has a stainless steel rail which is about 1/2" wide that is between the lower black and the upper white. On the original panel this was glued or fused in some manner to the face of the vinyl. I've tried some spray adhesive and some JB weld and neither one holds. Does anyone know of a glue that would work to secure this to the vinyl without making a mess. You can nott back screw it. It does not have any stems on it which go through the panel. It never did. I had to cut it loose from the original and peel off the paper. Any suggestions ?

Okay, I think I found it. Super Glue. I just tried an experiment and it has glued up so strong that you can not break loose the bond , which is what I wanted. The back side of the stainless steel trim has glue residue that the Super glue is bonding to and it really does glue strongly to the vinyl face. So I'm good. Thanks

Here's a photo showing how good Super Glue adhere's to the Vinyl face.

Re: Interior door panel question

I also use Super Glue Gel on stuff like this. It eats into the vinyl and sticks very well. Just be sure to not over do it and it oozes out on the exposed vinyl.
