Re: floppy inside door handles?

Should be a spring and a small plastic disc slightly larger then the diameter of the spring...

I think that's for the window crank. My handle doesn't return to the home position. Has no spring, just hangs.

Re: floppy inside door handles?

I wish GM would of just ran a chrome screw through the center of the handle into the axle. Those handles are always loose and make racket. I'm one of those guys who likes everything to work smoothly without rattles, which is why I bought a 69 el Camino with its massive frame and heavy sedan door frames. I never understood this fear of letting the screws be seen. Frank Lloyd Wright said it best, "just let it show, let it be what it is"..

Re: floppy inside door handles?

Half inch piece of foam/rubber goes between the door and the door panel on the earlier
cars. Could have a worn handle mechanism if there is that much slop?
Adding a bit oversize square or two of foam between door and door panel could help if you put a thick enough piece in there.

Re: floppy inside door handles?

I think the handle mechanism may have a return spring incorporated in it to return the handle to home. If you look at the picture you can see the end of the spring.
