68-72 el camino and simpson 5 point harness

looking for pictures of 68-72 el caminos with 5 point harness installed.

I want to add a 5 point harness but not use a roll bar to mount the "Y" shoulder harness. The lap belts and anti-sub belt are simple bolt ins. Its the "Y" harness concerns me as I'm not sure it will be long enough at 62 in to latch at my lap and be long enough to go over myself and bench seat back and bolt to floor.

Do not mount your shoulder harness to the floor. The manufacturers specifically say not to, it will compress you spine in an accident.

Read through some mounting recommendations, including those for the crotch strap before you make a purchase.

Subscribed. Iím interested also for my Ď68 ElC. I havenít found a bolt-in harness bar and suspect it would have to be custom made.

Correct I have searched high and low for a bolt in 2/4 pt roll bar for the 68-72. I have seen 6 points. I may end up buying the 5 point harness and only using the lap belts till I figure out a mount system for the shoulder belts.

Most out there are for 68-72 chevelle a-body

You can install a stand alone harness bar. They run from side to side and are used solely to mount the shoulder harnesses. If there arenít any universal kits available that will fit your El Camino you should be able to find a local fabrication shop that can make you one. If you search, harness bar, on eBay several hundred listings will come up, many are universal.

Yeah.... I put a harness bar in my C3 Corvette back in the day. Honestly, since no-one has one in their catalog, Iíd be inclined to weld up my own if I go that route. Easy enough to make so it attaches up to the bed wall and to the shoulder belt anchors. I guess we El Camino folks are a pretty limited audience, so no hope of a larger fabricator making one for an off-the-shelf purchase.

FYI. I started a thread regarding this elsewhere and the final product turned out great in my opinion.
