What Rear?

I reciently got a 1951 GMC longbed pick-up that is set up with a 350 cid. I want to know what the best six lug rear ratio would be for good mileage (these days). I will probably haul an additional 800 pounds and want to use the truck regularly. I hope someone can help.
Thanx,
CRAIG
