Small Block Exhaust Manifolds

Is there any difference on factory cast manifolds on small blocks?
Not minor changes, but things like outlet size, performance...
Also did single and dual exhaust get the same manifolds? (Was there any other difference other than y-pipe back?)
I am only asking about ones that work in Chevelles, not the Rams Horns/vette manifolds.

Re: Small Block Exhaust Manifolds

Chevelle style exhaust manifolds with 2 1/2 " outlets were often found on approx. 1990 Chevy pickups.

14093653 LH, and 14093654 RH.

Thanks

Thanks, bummer I didn't know that when I was setting up the JGC box and serpentine system. I used those as donors.
We cleaned up our manifolds a bit in and out for kicks, but more information is always better.

Re: Small Block Exhaust Manifolds

If you find a set of manifolds and want to decode them, down the bottom of this list is a thorough listing of the exhaust manifolds used by Chevy over the years. There is outlet diameters listed for some of the manifolds but not all of them.

Chevy Casting Number identification - Block casting numbers

It's still a good list though, probably the most complete I've ever seen.

Re: Small Block Exhaust Manifolds

I have seen some exhaust manifolds that are pinched down inside before the exit.
I think I still have them somewhere.. worst looking set.

Took me a little bit to find some that would fit my center mount 350 in my 57 chevy.
The truck ones would not work at all as they kicked out towards the frame on the ones I looked at.

Re: Small Block Exhaust Manifolds

When I picked up my small block 400, a set of manifolds were included. I threw them in the trash twice and pulled them back out. I thought they would fit a chevelle (78 blazer motor). If I didn't already have headers on my car, I would love to try them with regular dual exhaust to see how much room thier is by the starter. Jim

These logs are supposed to be the very best you can do in cast iron manifolds... https://www.castheads.com/manifolds-...ust-manifolds/

These are what I have planned for the El Camino when it returns to street duty.

Re: Small Block Exhaust Manifolds

Thanks everyone so far. All great information. I can't wait to get mine back out of the garage on the road, maybe this weekend if it stays dry, should be in the low 70s Saturday. I need to get some pictures of parts on it.
