Could be as simple as a rocker needing adjustment or even a blown exhaust gasket

Re: Valve train noise

Thanks for the suggestions. Just checked valve lash and they are in spec. Compression tested all cylinders and all are within 10 percent.

Re: Valve train noise

Doesnít sound bad from here. What is the recommended lash? Maybe tighten it up by a couple of .000ís to see if the noise is reduced.

But that sounds like my hydraulic rollered 502.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will re check today.

The hot lash is set .016 intake and .018 exhaust.

Does it have a stud girdle? If so make sure it has enough clearance for rockers to open and close.
Did you pull rockers and make sure they are not hitting retainers on bottom of rocker body? Pushrods wrong length and it can happen..... pull valve covers and start it, some roller rockers tend to hit valve covers and you might need to clearance them in a few spots.

Re: Valve train noise

Here's a video of mine... I've tried everything. I've been driving it without any issues.

Re: Valve train noise

Are you sure the valve springs aren't hitting coil bind? I reckon you may have checked all the geometries by now. But if not, like Kirk says, pop a cover and roll the motor over slowly and check the valves at full lift. Each one. Then do the other side. Unless you've double checked all that already.

You are using the EO-IC valve lash method, yes?

Mechanical fuel pump?
