Adjusting running is OK
But “if “you have tight Piston to Valve clearance you run the risk of tagging a piston if you tighten down too fast go slow thats why on an engine with big cam EOIC is preferred and more precise IMO. I would try 1 full turn if they are std travel lifters

How much time/ miles in this engine with these lifters

@CDN SS

Gonna do EOIC, one turn on them. Doing it now, we'll see how it goes.

I see where you say travel is .093 thats shorter than I thought So i see why they say .035 So no more than I turn
I hope this not the valve kissing the piston because flycut not radiused enough
shovelrick likes this.

Zach I only read the beginning of the tread but have you looked in a plug hole with a bore scope to see if any marks are on the piston from valve contact? I had a P/V sound and it was from the shop that put bigger valves in my heads didn't cut the guides down even though I left my cam card with them, top spring retainer hitting the valve stem seals & guides, sounded just like P to V hitting BTDT before, pulled the heads and went to a better auto machine shop

Shovelrick makes a good point
If this readj does not change anything. Then time to look in cylinder at piston Your sound is so consistant tells me ots either a lash procedure or some interference of parts

How did you set your rocker geometry ? Hopefully using the “ midlift” method

Re: Valvetrain noise won't go away, please help

It appears that your "preload" is being set with the rocker body, not the roller tip! The one rocker in the center looks like it has been hitting the valve on the bottom side, unless that's something else.
The guide plates are wrong, not centering rocker on valve.

Might need adjustable guide plates

Re: Valvetrain noise won't go away, please help

Rockers don't appear to be hitting retainers. Is this bad machining or do I need adjustable guide plates?

Yep sure points to guideplates need alignment
Thats better than valve hitting piston

Re: Valvetrain noise won't go away, please help

Is this rocker damaged, or some foreign material on it?
