budget aluminum heads for a 350.

guys, need help spending my stimulus check. 66 chevelle, 3.55 gears m20 4 speed, flat top 350 with a Elgin.420 performer type cam. 750 vacuum secondary holley, have a rpm intake.
car doesn't need aluminum heads but the wife is using her check for a purse so I decided to splurge myself.
I'm not looking for the last hp, just something to bolt on and go, thinking of a 64 cc head to bump the compression up, summit or jegs store brand is fine, trying to stay away from the ebay mystery heads.
Any suggestions? car is just a weekend driver. heads innit now are a set of mid 70s smog heads. jim

Re: budget aluminum heads for a 350.

If you are considering Summit or Jegs heads see if they can tell you who their supplier is, many of parts carrying their names are cheap white box Chinese products. In times like this is might be worth making sure whatever you purchase was manufactured on shore.

I have had excellent service from a pair of NKB heads from Skip White Performance.

AFAIK, NKB is Chinese, outfitted by SWP.

The only good budget head I can think of is Promaxx. A good set of used Edelbrock heads would be good also. I heard very good results from Flotek BBC heads but no idea about there small block stuff.

I thought about trying those heads on a "production" 2 bolt 400 small block for my truck, Skip's published flow numbers if correct are slightly lower than the 462 fuelies on my 327, but I'm sure they can be worked over for better numbers. I should have built the 400 instead of the 327 in the first place.

Re: budget aluminum heads for a 350.

While you can't beat that price Brodix.com has come out with a new pair of budget aluminum cylinder heads. At $999 a set, assembled that is a pretty good price and I think they all come cnc machined but don't quote me on that, not sure.

https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Brodi...bs,296307.html

And they come for the same price in 180cc also same price

I ordered a set of the promaxx heads through Chris and they were busy as heck at his shop, so I had them looked over by my local guy. He had never heard of them and after going through them, he now sells them.

Bang for the buck, they are a great head.

Re: budget aluminum heads for a 350.

In the past several years back some of the summit brand heads was brodix. Maybe this is changed since brodix heads are cheaper vs the summit these days? Just did a Quick search so I can have missed something.

Contact Mike Lewis aka wolfplace and ask him for a set of brodix IK 180. He is one of very few here that is a standup person. He wont try sell you what you not need answer questions both before and after the sale. The only other I would consider is Mark Jones aka vortecpro but not sure he sells just aftermarket heads?

I just bought my third set of brodix heads from Mike because the other two sets has and still works very good and Mikes customer service is outstanding.
