1970 BB 396 Intake Manifold Bolts, Washers???

I know the 1970 BB 396 stock intake manifold bolts are 3/8-16 x 1-1/4 but what I don't know is if there should be washers present? And if so, Flat or Lock. I was also thinking about increasing the bolt length to 1-1/2. Any foreseen problems with increasing the bolt length with a stock manifold? Thanks in advance,

Flat and just use 1.25. ARP bolts and thread sealant. The use of lock washers have been deemed useless in many applications since the 60s.

Or, you could buy the correct bolts: Aluminum Intake (G-5557) or Iron Intake (G-5463). AMK does have a $30 minimum order though fwiw.

YES ! I agree, The correct bolts are flange heads with the " M " I.D. mark. Also , If the bolts needed to be longer , I would guess Cheverolet would have taken the time to do so. So far my one owner 454 is just fine with all the factory nuts & bolts. If it is a factory stock engine, I would use the O.E.M. nutz & bolts. SOME, intake bolts are different on my 70-LS-5..??? T.C.S.//Etc,//Etc.
If it is aftermarket, Do whatever it takes!.................

Get the correct fasteners, Then get the wrenches.

Thanks! Yes, I was looking for correctness. But from what I've found so far, I guess they didn't have washers but my info could be wrong. Just flanged heads that wouldn't need a washer.

AMK B-10083 (pack of 8) from their bulk listing should also be the correct ones possibly?
