I don't have first-hand experience but Cliff literally wrote the book on Quadrajets. I've had that book for at least 20 years.

Coming from the Pontiac community, he is the man for Q-jets. A few have complained about his work, but the vast majority love his q-jet mods. Most of the complainers are mechanical secondary Holley fans, which, for racing you cant deny the benefits.

As of July 2019 Cliff is downsizing and is no longer doing rebuilds. Just concentrating on sales and minor repairs.

What Ed said. I need a Qjet to support a 600 hp rat , so I called Cliff this summer and that is the reply I got.

BTW, has anyone here heard of Harold Bettis? I happen to have a race Qjet built by him on loan from Mark Jones. My transmission folks ( AutoGear M23z) knew all about him. Called him a "flow guru".

If Cliff isn't doing them I would look into Sean Murphy Induction.

re: cliffs high performance

Cliff took a while to get the carbs done, but I needed one done on my truck pretty quickly. I drove there with the intention of leaving it there, but with a little nudging to try to persuade him to get it rebuilt quickly. He rebuilt it while I waited, and he did a nice job. Nice guy.

The MAIN problem was that the car talk stuff started and I totally forgot about about the wife in the car. That did not go well...

Are you looking to have your carb rebuilt or fully restored?

Tom can take care of you if you're looking for a rebuild. If you're looking to have the carb restored, I can help.

Here's a 7040204 I restored.

Do you do any performance stuff or do you concentrate on factory correct?

What amount of power do you consider a Quadrajet capable of?

re: cliffs high performance

I will do mild performance work on Quadrajets, but I don't get into full race type builds on them.

Properly set up, a QJet can support 600+ without trouble, but at that point the modifications required start to detract from its driveability manners.

Edelbrock made a 850 cfm model #1910 back in the 80's.

Some are sold on ebay and usually bring a lot; $599+

I found a model 1904 in great shape (800 cfm) for $150.

With bigger jets and the right metering rods it should be fine in my 525 hp 489

re: cliffs high performance

Yes I've bought a few things from them. I once bought a built up Pontiac 462 that I flogged for 75,000 miles without any issues. Its still running out there today.
He topped my motor off with a special Brad Urban/Cliff Ruggles built Quadrajet. It had all the cool little things like adjustable TPS.

Cliff is straight up, your not going to do better..

You might want to have him install a "ported" vacuum port for vacuum advance. Many people out there mistake the timed port as ported.

Also see if you can get the TPS adjustment..

You will wait though..

He sells a book with his rebuilding tips..
