Re: AFR 290 489 dyno

AFR says heads flow 375 cfm @.700. I've looked at some other 489/496 builds with these heads and they put up some pretty impressive numbers. I think I seen one vortecpro did 830 on a 540 build with these heads. Although he probably did some massaging to them. 730 is actually what I was thinking.

Anything over 700 I think would be a good day. Should be a nice broad torque curve.

if those heads flow an honest 375 on a 290 cc port that would be impressive to say the least especially out of the box.

Re: AFR 290 489 dyno

Carb may be small for it but it should make north of 700. How far north remains to be seen. Interesting build! 750 would not surprise me but I think it might be a little high.

I'm running 2 different carbs on it. The one is a pro systems 1000. The other one is a BLP little bo basically that robbie devain built. Its 1230 cfm. From what I've read it flows about the same as a 1050 dominator.

Dyno postponed until Monday due to a medical issue with engine builder. So got a few more days to guess if you’d like.

When all the hoopla dies down after the session, would you please post a couple of pictures of the dyno being driven around the block, please. Thanks.

Re: AFR 290 489 dyno

My 496 made 630 HP with way less cam, way less compression, way less carb and reworked OEM iron heads that flowed a little over 300. I think you'll make 730 easy or something is wrong.
