Re: Wheel backspace for 69 Chevelle

You can either use a 8 or a 10" rim.
If you use the 8" rim you need 4.5" backspacing, using a 10" rim you will need 5.5" backspacing.
The 10" rim will look the best.

I have a 295/50/15 on a 10" rim with 5" backspace that works for me. A 10" rim will look much better.

Re: Wheel backspace for 69 Chevelle

When first got the car it had 275/60-15 on 10" rims with 5" BS. Had slight rubbing on outside surface of tire (bulge). Since then have ran 8" rms with anywhere from 4.5" to 4" BS without issue. Unless the car sits higher than stock, 10" rim with 5.5" BS works best. Not much choice in wheels, but if you can find them, 9" wide rim with 5" BS would be spot on.
