Wow. Those are the first "ghetto rims" (big rims) that I actually like on a muscle car. Beautiful white interior on a beautiful car.

No pics. It's red w/ black stripes. Seen one, seen em' all.

That pictures perfect because those are the EXACT rims I'm putting on my 70 but I couldn't find any pics of a 70-72 with them. THANKS!

Re: 70 Chevelles with 18's

Wow, they look great! I had a question....Im also going to install 18's on my 69 chevelle. Can i just install them without major modifications? I read somewhere that 18's are the largest that will fit without major trouble.

Re: 70 Chevelles with 18's

Rim diameter has little to do with wheel/tire fitment. FWIW, I just installed 17" wheels on my '69. Stock ride height, car got 265/60/17 (29.5" ht) rear, 225/55/17 (26.7" ht) front. I was originally looking at 18" wheels for a 27545/18 rr / 245/45-18
frt combo. Stock ride height, you can safely plan on up to a 28-29" tall rear tire with 11-12" section width and a 26-26.5" tall front tire with 9-10" section width.

Re: 70 Chevelles with 18's

So it mostly depends on the Tire that you select with the rim then? What would be a good recomendations for the 18's?

Re: 70 Chevelles with 18's

All depends on your tastes and the budget. Me?? I tend to do things old school hot rod style. Probably not the best for a good comparison. I went with 17" wheels and a dramatcially taller/shorter tire look, FWIW,my car sat dead level front to back before I swapped on the new wheels/tires. 275/45/18, and 245/45/18 that I mentioned are both OEM size tires. If I was doing 18's , staying conservative, didn't want any fitment issues - and - didn't want to get into Ultra High Performance 350.00-400.00 per tire, I'd go with a Continental in those sizes (275/45/18 is OEM Mercedes tire). Those are right around 200.00 ea. 275/45/18 on 18x9" rim w/ 5" backspace on the rear, 245/45/18 on 18x8" rim w/4.5" backspace on the front. From there, you need to decide how big you want to go. Guys are fitting 295,305,315's in the back. All in what you want ,how much you want to spend and how much you want to go through to make them fit.

Re: 70 Chevelles with 18's

im "thinking" about going with a 295-50-18 in the back and 245-60-18 in the front but ill most likely go with a 255-50 in the back since i want to lower the back a little bit

Re: 70 Chevelles with 18's

why such a large sidewall with 18s? The whole point to run large wheels aside from looks, is to shorten the sidewalls. But everyone has their own preference

Those size tires are Sport Truck size. 245/60/18 won't fit up front.

Cause I don't like rubber band tires, neither the look or the ride. Theses tires, 245-45-18 and 295-45-18, are the same overall height as the 15's they replaced. Another tidbit not often mentioned, the taller tires tucked up in the wheel wells make the car look lower than it actually is, always a good thing in my mind. Guess I'm somewhat old school like Joe. All I know is I love these tires and wheels on this car, in my mind it looks just right, and that's all that matters to me. Still think the perfect setup would be 17's on the front, and 18's on the back, but I wouldn't change these.

That looks really really good! The chrome sets the color of the car off good! After I posted this i went around on google and saw alot of 19/18 combos so now im thinking about doing that. Does anybody have any pics of that?
& Did you have to do any Mods to the rear suspension or boddy for the 285/40's?

After measuring for wheels and tires, I found that the drivers side tail pipe would hit the 285 tire. I had that fixed before buying. No other adjustments needed
