I've got 275/40/17 at all four corners on 17Χ9.5″ wheels with 5 7/8″ backspace. It's really close as I wanted the same size and the ability to use any wheel at any position. If you want a front and rear set, you can go far wider in the rear. Front is about maxed out, and I can't imagine fitting more, but less makes fitment easier. If your body is not centered on the frame, you might see differences in clearance left to right which can make a difference. Test if you can before you buy everything. Some shops will let you test fit.
