tire rub

I have a 72 el camino that is not tubbed. I have a set of MT 28/12 x 15 tires.

When I make a right turn onto a fairly steep drive way my rear right tire rubs almost making it impossible to keep going, I need to back up and then proceed straight. There is no evidence of this occurring when driving under normal conditions.

My question is would a 26" tire with the same dimensions also rub. The new tire would be 2 inches shorter.

Re: tire rub

There are a lot of possibilities.. where is it rubbing? what is the wheel backspace? does it rub when you turn left?

Re: tire rub

Sounds like wheels w/incorrect offset is the problem, most likely. As Glen mentioned, tell us the wheel specs.
