1970 SS Chevelle tire size

I have a set of original 14" X 7" wide SS wheels but I'm stuck on which tire size looks best on the rim... What tire size are you running on original SS wheels? Any pictures would be great..

Thank you

Re: 1970 SS Chevelle tire size

I have that size rim on my 1967, I currently am running 205x75 Douglas (Goodyears) because they were so dang cheap, $30 each on sale. I had 225x70 on the rear and 215x70 on the front and liked those. They were Cooper Cobras on the back, and I don't recall the fronts, I replaced them only because they were 15 years old or so, and were in Las Vegas for probably over 12 years.
This is with the 225s in the rear and 215s in the front.

Here's another picture of the 225

On a Chevelle 245-60-14 is what I've always used. I don't have a picture handy, Sorry.

I'm afraid a 245/60-14 tire will look too weird for the 7" wide wheel...

A 225-70-14 is very close to the F70-14 that came on them, and looks good. BF Goodrich Radial T/A and Cooper Cobras are about your only white letter choice. For the money, the Cobras are good, I've had several sets with good luck.

I agree, the Cobras I had wore and rode nice, and seemed good traction wise, even with wear, I was caught in a huge rain storm on the way to Woodward a couple years ago, and they were ok.
Size and look was very good. I only replaced them due to being under half tread and getting old. And I found those dirt cheap new ones.
If I went to shows more and really wanted something for looks, I would get the redlines, or I might put them on my current tires myself from one of those tire decal places. I have 2 extras to test on.
The 235/50s are tempting but too short.

I run 245/60-14's on on the stock 14x7 SS wheels on the rear and 215's on the front of my 69. Definitely not too wide. I like them.

Any way you can take a picture of front and rear wheels so I can see?
