Tire size

Can anyone save me some time and guesswork? I need to know what is the widest tire and wheel combo is that will fit under a stock 67 Chevelle. What offset wheel would I need? Thanks in advance. (No guessers please) I can do that myself lol

Re: Tire size

The '67 I bought has:
Front: 225-50R17
Rear: 255-50717
Sorry I don't have wheel offset specs. I bought it with these wheels and tires. If I hit a dip while turning a hard right at speed the front tire will rub a little. I've become used to it and drive accordingly.

if you use the search option you will find your answer quicker than waiting for somebody to chime in.

This has been covered many times in the past.

Re: Tire size

Check out/left click on my Garage to the left
Left click on the first Album and go to the last/bottom section of it
all the details of various Wheel/Tire Combos I have/use on my stock 67 are there

There are pics in the Album on the stance of the 67 with the various Wheels/Tires

BUT you should measure what Room you have in your 67 as there are various reasons
what will or will not fit in different 67s
eg. Rearend not Centered / does not have the Early 67 Rearend width of 60" / Type of Brakes ....

If you need some direction/help in measuring how Room/Space your 67 has
for what Wheel/Tire Combo will fit for sure, let me know and I will advise in detail

Re: Tire size

A 10" width wheel, with 5.5"-5.75" backspace, and a 295 tire should fit with a stock width rear. Read the Wheel & Tire Database, at the top of this page, for other examples.

I think you'll be in tough to fit a 295 in the back. 275 is the widest 'typically' fitting in the wells on a 67 without rubbing.

A 285 or 295 has been fitted to the rear of a 66-67, many times, as long as the wheel backspace is correct.
