15x4 vs 15x3.5 Help

Hey guys I couldn't find the info I was looking for in the sticky section. I am looking at buying a set of billet specialties win lite wheels. I am looking to replace the Welds that are currently on the car. It is running a 15x3.5 currently and my question is I would like to go with the 15x4 since this is a big block car. Any differences with running the 4 vs. 3.5? Also the two offsets available on the 4 incher are 1.625 and 2.25, which do you think I should go with?

Re: 15x4 vs 15x3.5 Help

I have Billet Specialties Street Lite rims on my car in the 15x4 with 2.25BS on the front of my car. I don't like the deeper dish on the outside of the rim even though it's only .625 deeper. I really should be running about a 5" wide rim so that's why I went with the 4".

Hank, can you tell me what size tire you are running on the front with that 4" wheel? Thanks

I have some Cragar 15x4s one car and Sprints 15x3.5s on another. I agree about going with the wider of the two and also about an offset that keeps the tires tucked in. The further they stick out the higher the loads on them. These are really too narrow for the street, but.... On another, I was able to get what is probably the best, 15x5, on a set of custom steel Rally wheel from Vintiques.

Thanks for the pic, those look great. Just ordered the 15x4 2.25BS so we will see how it fits.

It's a Hankook Optima 724 size 205-75-15 which should really be on a 5" minimum width wheel. My rears are Hankook Ventus size 275-60-15 on a 8" wide rim with a 5.5 BS.
