66 Manual Steering Box Leaking

Can anyone recommend a good place to have my original manual steering box repaired? I would like to keep my oem box, Advance Auto has rebuilts however I want to try this route first. Thanks in advance.

What kind of lube is in it? It is supposed to have chassis lube, not gear oil!

Jesse,

What Leo said. Where is the grease leaking out?

Tom Terrific or Terrible Tom, depending on the phase of the moon, passing cosmic rays or other factors not fully understood except by my wife.

Re: 66 Manual Steering Box Leaking

What I would call the locking ring (lowest point on the box) looks like a huge recessed nut affair that the lock ring seats against. Yes Leo I do believe over the years I have used gear oil, Back in 2000 during the resto I sent if off to Harry's Steering in Michigan to be rebuilt, my wife was quick to point out that was fifteen years ago, my how time does zip on by. Here I am pushing 74 hard like October, thanks for the help.
