brake booster

I got a reman booster and I notice on the pedal push rod it has white foam and cloth o ring in the tube around the pedal push rod. But my old one just had a plastic boot over the cylinder that goes between the firewall and booster.

Is that just there for shipping reasons? should I remove it and just install the new boot?

Re: brake booster

No leave it. The one I took out of my car had a felt type washer and a clip on the rod which held the felt washer in. The new one just had a foam washer with no clip.

Re: brake booster

I think on the old booster there was a slot on the rod for the clip to go into. On the new one there was no slot so I didn't use it.
