1/2" Spring Spacers

Hi: I am planning on installing 1/2" Global West aluminum spacers to raise the front of my Chevelle. Do I need to get a wheel alignment? Thanks, Chris

Re: 1/2" Spring Spacers

A ride height change will change the alignment, yes. It's possible you may not need to re-align though. If you think about it, when you load four people and luggage into the car, you don't require a new alignment. Mainly it depends on how many miles per year you'd be driving.

For perfection, re-align. But maybe not a deal breaker.

IF you do decide to get an alignment, be sure to do some significant research (at a site called Team Chevelle). Choose the alignment specifications yourself and supply them to the shop as "I want these specs," otherwise the shop will guess what needs to be done and they will charge you an arm and a wheel to do it.

Re: 1/2" Spring Spacers

Chris
I had changed the Front Springs on my Car which changed the Ride Height down 2"

I then had to put a 1" Rubber Spacer under a new set of Moroso Trick Front Springs
this raised my Car's Front Ride Height by 1.5"

I had a Realignment done even though there was only a net difference of 1/2"
better to ensure the Front Tires are not necessarily wore out on the Inside or Outside of the Tire

Re: 1/2" Spring Spacers

Not sure if you plan to disassemble the whole front to get the spacer in there, but I just did this on my father in laws camaro and we rented an internal spring compressor from Autozone and were able to slip it between the coils and compress the spring enough to get the spacer in. Took about 5 minutes per side not including shock removal/install.
