Question Big Block Frame Braces

My '66 left the assembly line as a Malibu V-8, 136 VIN.

Last week I learned the SS/BB 138 cars left the line with 2 additional (welded) frame/chassis braces. "Added to prevent frame warping under hard initial acceleration."

(Not to be confused with the rear control arm braces)

Anyone here added them to their Malibu/136 frame?

Available as Repro?

THANKS for any/all info...!!!

Re: Big Block Frame Braces

I believe original poster was talking about the strap like pieces that go between the lower frame and the upper control arm attaching point.

Re: Big Block Frame Braces

I added them to my 71 Malibu and they are not welded on they're bolt on. They run from the lower front control arm bolt up to the upper front control arm bolt.

They just might be for the front as they don't look like the frame stiffeners that bolt between the rear control arms.
And since the OP hasn't answered to clear up what he is describing we can only guess.
