Switching from p/s to manual Steering?

Hey guys, my power steering setup is junk, it leaks from every conceivable place possible, the brackets that hold it on are cheap so the pulleys donít line up very well, not to mention the well documented undesirable ďfeel.Ē In conjunction with all of that all of the tie-rods/linkage/pitman are worn out. My buddy has a 72 nova with manual steering with a quick ratio box and says he loves it and doesnít need p/s. Instead of replacing literally every component of the system Iím strongly considering switching to manual steering.. the car is weekend cruiser, makes 1-2 trips to the drag strip a year.. Has anyone done this conversion or can anyone speak to having a manual quick ratio box in a bbc Chevelle?

Thanks for any in sight and advice!

Re: Switching from p/s to manual Steering?

Iím north of you and just converted to a big block and jgc box. I have my stock power steering box and hoses that didnít leak and worked well as well as some small block brackets if you wanted to try them if you donít go a different route.

No car yet; currently looking for 66-69 project/driver.
