want to convert from drum to disc

ok i h ave a question about converting front brakes to disc from old drums.. i have a 4 speed car and currently i have no power brakes/booster.

my question is there something special i need from brake pedal rod being too long or short for the new booster set up and also will this interfere with my clutch pedal? thanks for the info in advance.

Re: want to convert from drum to disc

The new booster push rod will mount to the pedal assembly with the same pin used to attach your existing manual rod. You will also need to use the lower hole in the pedal assembly for the correct pedal ratio. The conversion should not affect the clutch pedal at all.

Ok thanks, I also noticed that my windshield wiper motor is very close to my master cylinder as is sits now without the booster.. is there a specific size I need to clear the wiper motor?

Re: want to convert from drum to disc

It looks as though you have some tall valve covers from the pic, so I would suggest a dual 9 inch booster. You should not have any interference with the wiper motor.

Re: want to convert from drum to disc

food for thought....add disc without a power booster, increase rear drums to 11' , and car will stop good , no fitment problems and much cleaner look underhood .
Use a D50 style caliper but with a D153 pad, it has about 20%more lining than a D50

Just thought I would mention the following in case someone else needs the info. They make tall valve covers that l ook just the the stock chrome valve covers that allow the use of a stock brake booster. They are called "cheaters". I have them on my 69 with roller set up and original booster.
