Re: Found a 67 ss

From what I can figure, it sounds like a real SS, with Blue exterior, and blue interior

Re: Found a 67 ss

and assembled in the Fremont, Cal assembly plant, the last 7 is most likely a Z, which denotes Fremont assembly as well as the BF in the sequence number.

Fisher Body plate:
TR 731 is the interior trim code for Med. Bright Blue Imitation Leather bucket seats (bench seat same color is coded 729).
FF is paint code for lower then upper body color. "F" is Marina Blue in 1967.
On the ST(yle), 138 is a SS396 series and 17 is the model, 2-dr sport coupe.
BF is for Fremont, CA assembly plant.
07477 is the Fisher Body number
62783 ~ Factory data processing tracking codes and are no significance
030084 ~ Fremont did not list options on the body plate like some other plants in 1967 but this data processing number appears on the original trim broadcast sheet that would accompany the car during assembly identifying various options such as tinted glass, trans type, seat belts, maybe radio and/or antenna option, etc.

There should also be a body date code just above the 67-13817 something like 07A or 07B since this is an early July car.

VIN
13817 - SS396 series (138)/2-dr sport coupe model (17)
7 ~ model year
7 ~ as noted, should be the letter "Z" for Fremont.
156968 ~ sequence number for Fremont starting with #100001 meaning yours was the 56,968th Chevelle (of all series/models) assembled at Fremont.

If you have a clear photo of it, I'd like to include it in a Reference Guide I'm working on for 1967 Chevelles. See this web page for more information.
