Re: Hideous Gulf Green Chevelle

There's a color for everyone out there, remember Pink Panther Challengers and Cuda's? Sublime green, Plum Crazy, lime green 69 Camaro's and Cadillacs? I'm from the 70's generation who wouldn't have any car in any shade of green, and just tolerate blue. Gotta be black, silver or red with only a black interior,,, how boring right?

My "Time Machine", sold and gone. Looking for another.

Funny how the color choices have changed with the years. This gulf green reminds me of "avacado" colored kitchen appliances in the 70's. 350/4 barrel, auto, air, interior is toast. Thinking about putting an SS hood on it and cloning, 1972-Heavy Chevy, Mulsane Blue w/ white decal. Anyone have any restored "Gulf Green" photo's?

Pretty funny Ron, I too had a gulf green 1972 Malibu, and I recently painted it victory red with the HC decal package. I couldn't see getting hung up on vin numbers. I drive the car too much for it to be some trailer queen numbers matching car anyway...There's a reason there's so many red chevelles, because they look awesome!

don't care for most green shade/colors on most cars
they were popular in 68-70 though

Re: Hideous Gulf Green Chevelle

A few years ago I saw a picture of a 1970 Citris Green SS sitting at an inside car show, ( with 4 or 5 other 70s ) Dont know where it was,,, BUT The car had a buildsheet and it was sold close to my house in Jeannette,Pa.
The paperwork said it was ordered and sold at " Watson Chevrolet in Winber, Pa. " near Jennerstown,Pa.

I kinda like the Green cars. My '70 LS5 El Camino was Mist Green. Just realize when you go to sell it, everybody runs for the hills and says, "Too bad it's green."

Re: Hideous Gulf Green Chevelle

I never heard of people hating green colors so much. I've owned quit a few green cars and never wished I had picked a different color. I have to admit the green that is on the Malibu I own now didn't do a lot for me back when these cars were new but now I think it just stands out because it's different. The first picture of the car is how I bought it, hated the look with those wheels and I just felt the car in that color had great potential with the right set of wheels and stance to be a nice looking street car.

Re: Hideous Gulf Green Chevelle

There's a paint used on the 1965 Malibu that was very similar. The color was Willow Green and it was code H. This is one of my favorite '65 Chevelle colors.

Yeah, there's a color for everyone.....frost green is what pulled me to my chevelle. I guess that color was branded in my brain somewhere as my brother in law and childhood idol had one.

Re: Hideous Gulf Green Chevelle

Dateline : 1967, I just totaled my 66 SS 396, Now I have Ins. Issues. So I buy Mace Bakers (wifes demo) at Baker Chevrolet, Beaver, Pa. 1966 Caprice all power. It had the multiplex unit. The the bow/Tie would light up green on a stereo sta.
I had it painted the ( TO ME ) the most beautiful GREEN ever produced by G.M............ It was a color that G.M. painted on the " Tin Indians " AKA Pontiacs. It was called " VEDERO GREEN " it had a little gold flake in it.
To this day, In my many years on this planet,,,, I still love that VEDERO GREEN.
