Sounds like the guy was thinking its a 454 matching car, even though its a 402 matching car. Another rare one nonetheless!
Its still worth looking at & NOW you have a major negotiation point!

Thats a Flowmaster American thunder 2 1/2 in w Super 40s.
It sounds 100X better now that it is tuned.
I'll post a new video whenever the rain stops.

Did you see the VooDoo (old) or the ZZ502(new) roller video?

Car has SS 454 fender emblems but we know that's not correct. Sounds like the guy was thinking its a 454 matching car, or at least portraying that, even though its a 402 matching car. He must have been "talking" the car up to the guy trying to make him seem like he's purchasing the "best of the best". What I mean by that is the 454 engine in 72. Who knows. Another rare one nonetheless!

Its still a #s matching big block car though so its still worth a look. I dont know about that 25K price for a 402 car but you have ammo to go in and negotiate with the guy though. Hopefully the guy will be honest with the next guy that looks at it if you dont end up with it.

Im confused though. The original post says it is a W code car but the vin is actually a U code?

Re: 1972 Chevelle 454 Stamp

Chris,

The guy told this individual I know it was a W code 454 car. Nonetheless, he went over to inspect the vehicle to find it to be a U code vehicle, with a 454 sticker on the air cleaner for whatever the reason. The guy I know was apparently assuming the information the gentleman was telling him was correct without looking at the vehicle, even though he saw the car in the past. So I really don't know if the guy was trying to pull a fast one or not...and honestly I don't think the guy was. And with knowing this individual, I know he has been researching Chevelles lately. I think he may have been excited and jumped to a conclusion himself. The older gentleman probably told him it was a 454 original car, and the individual I know probably assumed it was a W code car. I know this sounds stupid, but I believe that's honestly what the situation is.

Re: 1972 Chevelle 454 Stamp

Hey Dan,

It sounds great! I am thinking of putting the original exhaust back on my car which would be recreated by Gardner exhaust systems.....not sure if I want to pay the cost or not, and have him replace the stock muffler with their customer turbo muffler but appears stock...

I dont think he is going to pursue it considering the cost. It is a nice car though. It's not a show car by any means, I'd say its 85% original. Does not have original rims, tires, valve covers, emblems from what I can tell.

Ah, gotcha. Sounds like a simple missunderstanding based on a completely stock unrestored car. Not a big deal but at least he has researched enough to know the proper vin code for 454 and 402 equipped cars before he shelled out the money. Or even considered paying it without knowing.
