these were all the codes i found on the engine:

See which code matches the stamping on the front pad -top right in pic:

UM ,NO ,I meant look there for the engine id code.



You first looked where B is now look where C is in the pic.

That's the partial VIN, I believe. Which decodes to a 1976 Chevy engine built in Janesville. The code Mike is referring to is a 3 letter code.

It's still going to be one of the codes I posted earlier ,just thought he'd want to know just what it came from.
Um Ethan ,that would be a vehicle built in Janesville.
Engine's likely from Tonawanda.

ok that code was T05-CXY


edit: ok cool its the impala engine. but i got a set of 67 396/427 hypo heads on them, lots better than the garbage heads that were on there

You did check piston to chamber fitment -didn't you?
Closed chamber heads on open chamber pistons can cause interference issues.
What's the casting number of the heads?
Or do you have flat top pistons?

the heads fit fine, they were already installed on the engine when i got it. the casting numbers on the heads were like a 3904 code or something thats all i can remember from it
