Re: '69 Camaro tag- any help here??

ST is short for STyle
69 - 1969
12437 - Camaro 2 dr sport coupe
VN - Van Nuys Assembly (LA Area)
21147 - Central office assigned body serial number
TR is short for TRim
716 - Blue Deluxe Vinyl bucket seats
53 53 - Lower and upper paint colors; 53 - Glacier Blue
12B - Production month and week car began; 12 - Dec, B - 2nd week of
K008 is a Los Angeles production scheduling daily work order, car 8 of day K (11th work day of month) of the production calendar which may or may not follow the date calendar.

The schedule code for LA reached across all models the plant built, each day the letter incremented and the number reset to 1. So this body was the 8th one started on that day, not the 8th Camaro though as they built Impala's, Firebirds and others at VN. The numbers went to 999 and started over if necessary.

. . . . . because those Camaros were built in Norwood, Ohio.

Plus, this car, even if it had been built at Norwood, was one week before the implementation of the X codes.

Authentication and pre-purchase inspection service still available. PM me for more information.

Re: '69 Camaro tag- any help here??

Correct, X** were 1969 12B on Norwood only exterior trim codes although a few built prior to 12B have been found with the X**.

X11 - Any engine with Z21 or Z22 style trim, no Z28 or SS 396 but could be SS 350
X33 - Z28 with Z22 RS trim
X44 - Non SS, Non Z28 w/o Z21
X55 - SS 350
X66 - SS396 w/o Z21
X77 - Z28 w/o Z21

Note - Z22 included Z21 with more features.
