Rear end #'s breakdown (70 Chevelle)

Hi Guys,

I'm putting a "Casting numbers and datecodes sheet" together for my car, as I'm planning to have my car appraised. I thought this would be useful, so the guy doing the appraisal doesn't have to crawl all over my car looking for numbers.

Here are the numbers for my Differential # 3969278 NF 67890
On the right axle tube#CCF 0521B
Casting date: 0=1970 5=May 21=21st Day B=2nd Shift?
Build date for my car is 5/29/70

Does this look right for my car?

Re: Rear end #'s breakdown (70 Chevelle)

The dates appear to be good. the date on the trim tag is merely the date the car began being built. so assembly of the rearend prior to it would make sense. hope that helps.

You have the right dates but the wrong format. The year is only shown on the cast date not the axle assembly stamp.
0521 is (MM/DD) May 21st axle assembled day. B is Buffalo axle plant.
To find the axle cast date look at the center section facing the cover at
the 5 or 7 O'clock position. Will be a small "raised" not stamped code. A letter for month and numbers for day and last digit of year.
From this 70 list CCf is a 3.31 ratio posi

if your doing this for insurance, i would go with LaRue or Hagerty you both agree what your car is worth and you dont have to pay an appraiser $75 or a $100 bucks.
