Re: Date code on cast crank?

Cant help with the N2. If the last number is a 6 in the date code it could be April 15, 66; April 15 76; or Apr 15 86. A '66 crank would have a grooved oil passage ground in the crank under the rear main cap, If it's a BBC.
Don't know if the Gen V parts were date coded.

What did the motor come out of? That will narrow down the date code.

It came out of a 1975 454, maybe it's not the original crank

Re: Date code on cast crank?

What is the part number on that crankshaft ? The part # will also give you a clue as to when it was made.N2 could probably be the code for the shift that did the work if they were running 2 work shifts when the crank was cast but that is just my guess.Someone who worked at Tonawanda or one of the foundry's may know better than I do.
