'68 VIN locations

Hello-

I am a new member, and even though I have owned a few Chevelles over the years I certainly don't know everything about them.

I have recently purchased 2 '68 Chevelle project cars, both have 138 VINs. I am curious as to other locations on the cars where VIN stampings or plates may appear.

One car is a total basket case, no rear end housing or much else with the car.

Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael Kilduff

Re: '68 VIN locations

I do have one of the trim tags to post here, if anyone can help decipher the options and colors this car came with from the factory.

Re: '68 VIN locations

Vin: Dash, upper drivers side.

Partial vin: Firewall, under lower lip of the heater box (heater box off , probly the fender too)

Partial vin: Firewall, under the fender attachment point near the wiper motor (fender off)

Partial vin: Frame, drivers side, on top of the rear rail beside the fuel tank (body off)

I think there is another one either on the frame or the body.

Check out my site for the pictures of the locals on the firewall.
