4113 car built at Van Nuys some questions

My 1972 Base Chevelle 2 door with an original 307 was built at the Van Nuys California plant the vin is 504113 which makes the car the 4,113 car down the line.

I am trying to determine when production began for the Chevelle or any car at that factory for the 1972 year. How early is a 4113.
How many cars did that factory make in 1972. I believe they built more than just Chevelles wagons ect.

My body is the is the 5th week of august and the cowl states it was a Los Angelos California

How does LA and Van Nuys build 1 car at 2 factories

As always thanks in advance for any clarification

Take a look at this LINK, should answer your question. The entire Chevelle Stuff web site is an incredible Chevelle info resource!

Re: 4113 car built at Van Nuys some questions

Going by data on a 1972 Van Nuys plant build sheet the 2nd day of scheduled production was Aug 31, 1971 (a Tuesday). It typically took 4 to 6 days for a finished car from the scheduled date on the build sheet. The information listed on the page referenced should heed the Caveat on the page. The car I mentioned with a scheduled date of 08-31 has VIN sequence 4066 and was probably completed around the 6th or 7th of September and yours, only being 47 units later was probably in the same time frame since the VN plant averaged 427 cars a day in September of 1971.

Hope this helps.

The 'L.A.' plant was in Van Nuys, a town in the suburbs of the San Fernando Valley. The plant was on Van Nuys Blvd.

'66 El Camino, 327, 5 speed, 3.31 posi.

Custom painters don't screw up! They just add more graphics.

What TopHog said. Note the build sheet shows "VAN NUYS" plant in 'VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA"

Re: 4113 car built at Van Nuys some questions

At one time there were two plants in the Los Angeles area. The Van Nuys plant where A and F bodies were built and the South Gate plant in south LA which primarily built B bodies.

The Budweiser brewery was next door to the Van Nuys plant.
