My NOS 68 300 bumper arrived!

Huge thanks to Scott W for not only finding this thing, but then going and getting it and packing it and shipping across the country for me!!!!

Cannot wait to get this on the car! Finally something worth of polishing!

Getting close! Hoping for fireup/cam break-in this Sunday or Monday!

Spent a bunch of time this past weekend, checking stuff off my to-do list left and right.
Finished re-doing the alternator wiring back to the regulator. All soldered & heat shrinked.
extended the chopped off starter wire- same thing soldered and heat shrinked-
Just need to insatll the starter now and i'll be able to turn on the power and see what else works and doesnt.

Some more plumbing for the fuel line up to the carb, some more wiring for the electric fan...

getting real close.

You gonna upholster the rear seat to match your "racing bucket? I bet you can get material for it at Toys R Us.
The car does look good, congrats!

Hi Ben

Glad that you got the engine running and broke in. It sounds really good idling also.
How long did you break in the cam and at what RPM?
Great job! Your seat looks better than mine.

My helper does anyway...

Seats are in! Big long thread in the interiors forum if anyone cares to see what all went into that...

And... I actually drove the car today!
Unfortunately the driveshaft is rubbing on the DS loop making the most horrific griding sound you've ever heard, so i left the driveway, turned around and put it right back int eh driveway.

The back of the car is sooooooo Low the DS angle is terrible.
I really want to keep the safety loop (its a really nice one and would clear fine if the rear was up a hair higher) So i'm going to investigate what rear sprigns to get.

I have a set of Airlift airsprings, but they are for a 64-66... not sure the difference between teh two. I may just try them.

THe car has 28" tall 275/60 15s on the back, and the ground to rear fender lip height is only 23"... i needs to come up at least 2" to be acceptable.

Not sure which springs i need. More research is needed, and photobucket killing all the photos in the old threads doesn't help!

Hopefully new springs will resolve this issue so i can FINALLY for real, drive my car.

Ben, nice work. I am currently working on a 68 300 deluxe too. Mine was the ash gold with ash gold interior. I say was, because it was in gray primer and the previous owner destroyed the door panels by recovering them in blue, and painted the entire interior light blue. Also good score on the bumper, I been looking for one for five years now. Good luck on your project. Terry

Your seats look fantastic Ben. You will figure out the springs in the back and be driving it again in no time.

Looking good.

Nice work, Ben. Great to see it go down the road for the first time! Are you planning to install a console or use a bench seat hump and trim?

No console, I prefer the clean, bare look.
I'll get a non-console hump and just run a basic hurst boot & plate.
