Re: The Next Generation

Made a little more progress today. Got everything cleaned out of the interior and vacuumed out.

The next step was cleaning up the seat, which is in really nice shape.

The interior had been all full of the trm that came with the car. We set it all in the bed for now, seeing as how it all needs cleaned up anywa. I threw it in the interior for the trip home to make sure it didn't fly out on the highway.

Then here's the floors all cleaned up. Nice thing is, no signs of rust through.

He's really itching to put the seat back in, but we water tested it and found that the back window is leaking (no big surprise) so all his interior pieces are in my garage until we can get that taken care of.

Re: The Next Generation

Still trying to identify some things about this car since most of my experience is 64 specific and his is a 65. Can anybody identify the hole pattern for the engine emblem? I figure this car was a V8 car to start with by all indications, but don't know which emblems will fit this hole pattern:

Its 2 smaller holes closer together on top and 2 larger holes a little farther apart on the bottom.

Re: The Next Generation

Devin it was great meeting you. Im glad he`s happy with his purchase. The car was in fact "sold" before you contacted me but no money changed hands. I gave you guys first crack at it because your a member here and you told me this was for your sons first car. As I told you, this was suppost to be my sons first car and he talked about it often but he`s only 4yrs old so I got time to get him something else. Since my father/son project got derailed Im glad to see it work out for you guys. If you have any questions about the car or have 1965 related questions dont hesitate to call, text, or pm me. I wont forget about those other parts either. As soon as I get the rearend back in the car Im going to start on the front and the disc brake swap so Ill have that booster ready soon.

Re: The Next Generation

His engine arrived today. He bought it from a coworker of mine, fellow gearhead. 283, casting numbers back that up.

he's so thrilled. Every time I jokingly offer to get rid of it he gets upset with me! He's just as much an addict as I am, he's grown up with it. I can't say how proud of him I am.

Re: The Next Generation

Once my motor is clear of the cradle we're going to bolt his to it and fire it off to make sure all is well. It may smoke some, but doesn't appear to have ever been opened up.

Re: The Next Generation

do paint it up before dropping it in the chassis. Rich L-79 is a good source for 65 related questions and that 283, 2bbl will be plenty of engine while he learns as time goes along. Good luck and I'll be looking in on this all the time.
