This isnt the first car I have built, but this is the one that has fought me the most every inch of the way, I have found the issue which was causing the car not to idle properly, which I thought was rich at idle and was carb problem. The intake gasket had been leaking and I took it for its first ride and blew the gasket out completely, pushng oil right of of the beather and smoking out of the right side tailpipe like a crop duster, its an easy enough fix, just wish I had found it before putting the motor in a freshly painted car.

Re: Getting back in the game. 67 Malibu

I ended up adding front and rear Hotchkis sway bars, which made a huge improvement with the way the car handles. I also had to change out the pinion seal which even though brand new was leaking pretty bad, but was able to put a few hundred miles on the car to break the gears in so it was due anyways. Pretty sure I even found the last of the bolts I didn't tighten. I started working on the hood I didn't mind cutting this one as it had alot of damage when I got it, and I have a 2 inch cowl hood that I had painted with the car for when I end up with a motor that does not stick up threw it. today was a great day for a drive so I did just that, about 40 miles, and it was a great ride.
