e40 ecm ls swap wiring harness modification difficulties

I am just getting started with my LS Swap and running into some trouble. The engine is an 02 or 03 6.0L LQ9 from an escalade. Bought it from a guy that had it in an 06 Trailblazer SS. I have the 4l70e from the trailblazer also. My plan is to use the stock wiring harnness with the LQ9 and 4l70e. The main problem I am running into is with figuring out how to modify the wiring harness. I have been told that the e40 ecm the 2006 trailblazers used is not a normal ecm and there isnt much info out there on how to modify it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this or any prior experience with a swap using an e40 ecm? Any wiring diagrams would also be greatly appreciated( having trouble finding those too). Also, what kind of connections should i be looking for from the clump of wires that had originally went to the interior of the car? From what I understand, there arent too many I need to look out for there and getting rid of the interior wiring would get rid of more than half of my existing harness.

Thanks for the help.

I have read on LS1Tech that these newer E40 style of powertrain control modules are very easy to turn them into a brick, door stop or a wheel chock.

You might ask a few questions there and at the HP Tuners site.

There's no need for the E40 if you aren't running vvt or dod, you probably aren't running emissions either, so there is no need for that ECM. I'd sell it and get a blue/green 0411 from an 04-05 tahoe/yukon/suburban/silverado, etc.

If you have a pull a part near you, you can get an ECM, wiring harness, and full fuse box cheap. If you're bored, check my thread out, did full silverado wiring harness, ecm, and fuse box. I wouldn't recommend the fuse box, I'd honestly just piggy back the LS circuits around the car's electrical system. I was stupid and ran everything for the car through the silverado under hood fuse box, wasn't fun.

+1 to Hotwire's advice. Lash it all up to an American Auto Wire body harness and you will be miles ahead. I used a PSI standalone engine wiring harness or you can pull a 0411 engine harness. The luxury of getting a custom PSI harness is that you can tell them what fuel injectors you are using and they will build your harness to support those connectors.

Junk yard 0411 PCM's are $35 each around here and easy to remove.

Holley Terminator X an option?...won't have to mess with a harness or computer at all.

I think the op is having issues converting his oem harness to a standalone harness. There aren't many good diagrams of the pinouts for the e40 harness out of the gto, since the car was manufactured overseas and imported.

The best thing to do is to buy a standalone harness from psi. I'm running an e40 harness in my Chevelle from psi.

Be aware the 411 PCM is a 24x controller. The 2006 TBSS had a 58x PCM.

True, thank you for bringing that up. That goes back to the OP in which he bought an 02-03 block that was in an 06 TBSS. Did the seller swap cranks so it would work with the E40 ECM?
